The New York State High School Football Coaches Association, founded in 1994, is an organization in New York State dedicated to maintaining the high status of the football coaching profession. Its membership consists of high school coaches from across the State, the collegiate ranks, Athletic Directors, as well as Associate (non-coaches), and Retired coaches.

2009 NYS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS SET – NYSPHSAA, PSAL AND NYCHSFL

The following teams will play for the NYSPHSAA, PSAL and NYCHSFL Championships this weekend. All of the NYSPHSAA games will take place at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. It should be a great weekend of football!

NORTH EDGES SOUTH TO RECORD THIRD STRAIGHT SENIOR GAME VICTORY

COLONIE -- Pat Wilson of Salem kicked a 25-yard field goal and an extra point as the North defeated the South, 10-7, in the annual Section II Exceptional Seniors football game Tuesday night at Christian Brothers Academy.  Over 100 Section II Seniors from over 50 playing schools participated on a beautiful fall night.

Wilson's field goal gave North a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. He booted an extra point after Mohonasen's Tahle Teabout scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter.

Teabout led all rushers in the game with 62 yards on 17 carries. Lake George's Caleb Meroski added 45 yards on 11 rushes for the North, and Shawn Leary of Glens Falls ran for 28 yards on three carries.

The North's Chad McCloskey of Gloversville completed nine of 17 passes for 96 yards. Corinth standout Jordon Charbonneau caught two passes for 22 yards.

The South's lone score came with 2:40 left in the game on Hudson quarterback Talib Barksdale's 5-yard touchdown pass to Steve Kent of Schenectady.  The South team was held to 82 yards rushing and under 200 yards of total offense while the North racked up 300 yards.  Hudson.  The North also recorded 4 sacks on the night from Zach Bourdeau (Corinth), Walter Foster (Granville), John Verra (Niskayuna) shared with Jared VanVranken (Gloversville) and Anthony Mushaw (Scotia).

NYSPHSAA ANNOUNCES CHANGE TO 2009 FOOTBALL FINALS AT THE CARRIER DOME

LATHAM – The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has announced a change in its 2009 Football State Finals at the Carrier Dome this November.

Due to a Syracuse men’s basketball game taking place on Friday, November 27th, the NYSPHSAA Football Finals will now be conducted on Saturday, November 28th and Sunday, November 29th. The original schedule had games on Friday, November 27th.

The revised schedule is as follows:

Saturday, November 28th at the Carrier Dome
12 Noon – Class D
3 pm – Class C
6 pm – Class A

Sunday, November 29th at the Carrier Dome
1 pm – Class AA
4 pm – Class B

The 2009 NYSPHSAA East (Dietz Stadium) and West (Paetec Park) State Semifinals will be conducted on Friday November 20th and Saturday, November 21st. There are no changes to the State Semifinal schedule.
